Description
This was captured on a hike in Washington state park in Missouri. It looked like the top of the steps were glowing with the yellow fall leaves, Such beauty there. Very quiet and serene.
Washington State Park is perhaps best known as having been the location of prehistoric ceremonies associated with the Indian culture that archaeologists call Mississippian. Petroglyphs, or rock carvings, remain as evidence of their beliefs, and give clues to understanding the lives of these people who are believed to have inhabited the area around A.D. 1,000. The park contains the largest group of petroglyphs yet discovered in Missouri. Because of the number and exceptional quality of the carvings, these sites were placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Beautiful capture, Peggy. I like the receding steps and the dreamy quality of the trail.

Peggy, Fantastic nature photo love the details of the steps leading up and into the forest path. Great details of the leaves on the path's steps and a beautiful scene on each side of the path of the trees acting as book ends. Love the background of this path as you see the sun shining through making you wonder what is through those trees at the end of this path. Excellent photo, voted, google, tweet and FB promoted

A somewhat surreal invitation to explore this beautiful forest. Thank you for bringing us the backstory too, Peggy. Would like to visit this place myself to witness the evidence of prehistory. V/F

Beautiful, Peggy. I love the softness as the stairs disappear in the distance...........v
