Description
This was Capture from Jefferson Barracks Park Over look. Downtown St. Louis is 10 Miles from where I took this photo. It was a very clear day.Located on the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Louis County, the Jefferson Barracks Historic National Park was created in 1866 as the result of the Civil War. Prior to becoming a national cemetery, it was a military base called the Jefferson Barracks. The military post was begun in 1826, and US Grant was stationed here where he met his future wife, Julia Dent. The setting is very pretty. The views of the river are very dramatic and the rolling hills are lovely, a fitting setting for our nation's bravest. This is a beautiful park and if ever in the Saint Louis area I highly recommend a visit. The historic nature alone makes this park a must stop.
