Description
This was captured at the Big River Rockford Beach. What a beautiful winter scene. It is one of my favorite places to capture different scenes. This is also were the fireman practice there water rescue as the waterfall and current is very strong. During the summer months and when you want to spend a relaxing afternoon next to the Big River, this is the spot for you. A dam creates a cascading waterfall producing an environment that naturally relaxes visitors. The river is commonly used for fishing, swimming and boating. Picnic facilities will provide you with tables, grills and a volleyball court. To challenge your angling skills, you may access the Big River by the concrete boat ramp on the up stream side of the dam.The entire length of the Big River in Jefferson County has been designated a Small Mouth Bass Trophy Area by the Missouri Department of Conservation. It is easy to see why these Missouri fish would choose to populate this river; everything they need is here. There are 72.8 miles of the Black River in Jefferson County. It meanders around before it connects to the Meramec River near Eureka. The county parks include Brown's Ford, Cedar Hill, Morse Mill, Rockford Beach and Winter Park.
